Carter is Chief Executive Officer of Major, Lindsey & Africa, LLC. Each MLA office is organized as a separate LLC and is wholly owned by Major, Lindsey & Africa, LLC. Carter directs MLA's worldwide operations including expansion into new geographic markets and mergers and acquisitions. He operates from the San Rafael office that is also home to MLA's marketing, technology, human resources, finance and accounting resources. Under Carter's direction, new MLA offices have been opened in Hong Kong, Los Angeles, San Diego, Philadelphia, Seattle, Washington D.C., Dallas / Fort Worth, Milwaukee, Boston and London.
Carter received an MBA with honors from the Graduate School of Business, Harvard University; an MA in psychology specializing in learning theory from the University of the Pacific and a BA in Renaissance liberal arts from Raymond College, a cluster college of the University of the Pacific.
Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Carter was co-founder and for 23 years President & Chief Executive Officer of Omega Performance Corporation. An innovator in the application of electronic technology to learning, Omega developed one of the most sophisticated portfolios of computer based and web based learning resources in the financial services industry. Under Carter's leadership Omega grew to become the largest provider of training and performance consulting services to the banking industry and earned recognition as an INC 500 company. Headquartered in San Francisco, with offices throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and Australia, Omega serves most major banks in these geographies. Carter joined Major, Lindsey & Africa in September 2000 after orchestrating the sale of Omega to a large United Kingdom based training conglomerate.
Carter served for a decade on the Board of the University of the Pacific and is the co-author of the book ''Service Quality, A Profit Strategy for Financial Institutions'' published by Dow Jones-Irwin.
Carter reports his home life is always delightfully chaotic. His wife Donna, a children's librarian, manages the young adult collection of the Mill Valley Library. They have two lovely daughters in college, Springer, a timid Portuguese Water-Dog, Chutney, the tuxedoed feline and, Monty, the preschool carnival goldfish. |
