Catherine S. Shimsky is an associate in the firm�s Corporate Department with experience counseling business leaders and entrepreneurs regarding the start-up phase of corporate entities, the process of selling and acquiring businesses or product lines, financing from banks and other private parties and the ongoing legal obligations of their businesses. Clients benefit from the combination of Ms. Shimsky�s legal background and her prior business experience, during which she worked in various leadership positions for Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals and National Starch and Chemical Company. Clients, usually small and mid-market businesses, value Ms. Shimsky�s advice because she speaks their language, quickly recognizes the business objectives of the proposed transaction, and facilitates a solution that minimizes the client�s risk and maximizes the client�s benefit. Ms. Shimsky graduated from Georgetown University (1996). She received her law degree from Seton Hall Law School (2006), magna cum laude, where she was a member of the Corporate Law and Tax Law Society and a member of the Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Board. During law school, Ms. Shimsky served as a law student extern in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, Newark, New Jersey. Upon graduation, Ms. Shimsky was invited to become a member of the Order of the Coif, an honorary legal scholarship society. Ms. Shimsky continues her legal education as a member of the Inn of Transactional Counsel, a group of attorneys dedicated to developing their legal skills in the area of business law. Ms. Shimsky is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association in its Section on Business Law, and the Middlesex County Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. |
