Charles A. Freeman is counsel whose legal practice in employment law spans 40 years.
Charles' legal experience crosses all aspects of employment law, and he is a recognized authority and practitioner in the areas of collective bargaining and labor relations, where he represents a wide range of for-profit and nonprofit corporations engaged in manufacturing, health care and higher education. He is a noted authority on the employment issues that arise in connection with mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining the firm, Charles was the managing partner for the Chicago office of Elliott, Kaiser & Freeman. Mr. Freeman was also assistant vice president, Legal Affairs/Labor at Rush Presbyterian - St. Luke�s Medical Center in Chicago. In this position, he directed and coordinated compliance with all labor and civil rights laws, and served as the chief spokesman in all labor negotiations. Charles also coordinated all defense of legal actions with various outside counsel.
Previously, Charles served five years as Labor Relations Counsel for MGD Systems, a subsidiary of North American Rockwell, and earlier as a labor attorney for International Harvester Company. In both positions, he was responsible for and conducted labor negotiations. At MGD Graphics Systems, he was the chief spokesman in labor negotiations for domestic and Canadian operations of the division�s graphic arts manufacturing operations. At International Harvester, he presented all labor arbitration cases arising under nationwide master contracts with UAW, IAMAW, IBT and others.
