Mr. Sweet�s practice focuses on federal securities law and corporate matters. He counsels public and private companies, their directors and officers, investment banks and investors regarding securities registration and reporting matters relating to both corporate and asset-backed securities, as well as governance issues, stock exchange listing requirements and insider trading restrictions.
Mr. Sweet�s transactional practice emphasizes public offerings and private placements of securities, as well as mergers and acquisitions. His securitization transactional experience includes innovative structures, such as the first automobile lease securitizations. He also has a broad background in other types of transactions, including partnerships and joint ventures, venture capital financings, commercial credit and liquidity facilities, equity-based compensation plans, and commercial contracts of a variety of types. Mr. Sweet has represented clients in a wide array of industries, from banking, energy, airline and agriculture to software, telecommunications and biotechnology.
At the University of Texas School of Law, Mr. Sweet was a member of the Order of the Coif, a member of the Chancellors (the school's highest honorary organization) and an associate editor of the Texas Law Review. Mr. Sweet is a member of the American Bar Association, the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. |
