Charles O. Bracken has 30 years of experience in the fields of information technology and health care information management. Mr. Bracken's background encompasses a wide range of health care experience, including a position as Chief Information Officer of a multi-hospital corporation. His other experience includes 13 years of consulting, hospital management, and tenures with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan and a software vendor as Vice President of Marketing. Throughout his varied career, Mr. Bracken has dedicated his technical knowledge, executive management experience and motivational skills to further the improvement of health care delivery and management, as well as the strategic use of information technologies and systems in the health care industry. Mr. Bracken's educational credentials include: an MBA, with a major in Management from Wayne State University, Detroit; and a BS in Accounting from Wayne State. He has earned a Certificate in Data Processing (CDP) from the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals. Mr. Bracken is actively involved in the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE). He is a founding member of the Forum for Healthcare Strategists and a past board member of the Center for Health Information Management (CHIM).
On an ongoing basis, he consults with investors, vendors, large health care systems, and other segments of the health care industry to lend his business acumen and visionary guidance on emerging technologies. Mr. Bracken is a popular presenter, keynote speaker and moderator by virtue of his ability to project his all-encompassing vision of health care delivery in an inspirational yet practical manner. He is a regular presenter at numerous national, regional and academic meetings and conferences, including the Harvard School of Public Health Conference on Information Systems for Managed Care and Integrated Delivery Networks, and Healthcare Strategy Institute (HSI) conferences. Among his many presentation topics is The Future of Healthcare Information Systems Technology. His views and opinions on a wide range of health care and information technology topics are frequently sought after and quoted in national health care journals.
Mr. Bracken's consulting accomplishments in the areas of health care management and information systems reflect his interdisciplinary approach to his work and include the following recent successes: evaluation of software applications for managed care; conduct of a consulting engagement to assist physicians in defining paradigms for information management in an integrated delivery system; presentation of workshops on the future of information technology; development of strategies using the Internet for health care applications; and consultations on contingency planning for merging or acquired organizations.
