Between stints in the Army Air Corps during World War II and the US Air Force in Korea, Charles worked as an accountant in Amarillo. Following both wars, he joined Shamrock Oil, working his way up to Vice President, Administration, which included responsibilities for human resources and insurance. He was intimately involved in Shamrock's merger with Diamond Alkali in 1972 to form Diamond Shamrock, and assumed a similar position with the new company until his retirement in 1980. His consulting work following retirement included risk management and labor relations engagements with Sam Walton and Trammel Crow. Charles was a founding director of Oil Insurance, Ltd (O.I.L.). Charles Trolinger's service as the first outside director for McQueary & Henry, Inc, and as advisory director for MHBT, has played a significant role in the success of both entities. |
