Dr. Chimbaugona Mkandawire is a Managing Engineer in Exponent’s Biomechanics practice. Dr. Mkandawire addresses issues involving the biomechanics of human injury with expertise in the areas of human tolerance occupant kinematics and rigid body dynamics. His work includes accident reconstruction analysis of traumatic injuries associated with transportation heavy equipment falls consumer products and the workplace. Dr. Mkandawire's experience in occupational injuries includes being a certified forklift operator publishing research in forklift operations being an authorized OSHA trainer and reconstructing occupational and industrial accidents. Dr. Mkandawire has expertise in ligament biomechanics quasilinear viscoelastic theory foot-ankle biomechanics and gait analysis. His research interests include disorders and treatment of the foot wrist instability spinal canal occlusion and shoulder-implant biomechanics.
Dr. Mkandawire holds academic appointments in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Temple University the School of Biomedical Engineering Science and Health Systems at Drexel University and the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at Princeton University. Prior to joining Exponent Dr. Mkandawire has been involved in general orthopaedic biomechanics research modeling the foot and ankle with LS-DYNA and studying the biomechanical effects of implants and surgical procedures. |
