Mr. Brophy's practice focuses on real estate transactions, including the acquisition, disposition, financing and leasing of commercial properties. Professional Activities - Mr. Brophy is a member of the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Brophy practiced in the areas of redevelopment and public law, where he represented cities and redevelopment agencies in various real estate transactions and public law matters. He served as the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Pinole, California from September 2005 to July 2006, and also has experience in the areas of public finance, power purchase agreements and energy contract portfolio management. Mr. Brophy coauthored an article entitled, "Will Eminent Domain for Redevelopment Purposes Survive Legislative Challenges After Kelo?," published in Volume 24, Number 2, of the California Real Property Journal. Education - Mr. Brophy received a B.A. in history from Dickinson College in 1993, and his J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2003. During law school, Mr. Brophy was a member of the UC Hastings Community Economic Development Clinic. His work with the Clinic focused on general economic development in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco and included a specific focus on the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency's Mid-Market Survey Area. |
