In 1995, Claire Averett was appointed to vice president of human resources at Nu Skin Enterprises. Her assignments include oversight of all employee-related issues such as employee relations, benefits, wellness, compensation, payroll, employee and leadership training, talent management, executive succession planning, organization development and change initiatives. Prior to joining Nu Skin Enterprises, Ms. Averett was vice president of human resources at Novell, Inc., WordPerfect Corp. and the human resource executive at Community Nursing Services of Salt Lake. As an active participant in many professional and civic organizations, Ms. Averett is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the Human Resource Association of Central Utah and WorldatWork. She has served on the Executive Board of the United Way of Utah County, and the Board of Directors of the Ouelessebougou Utah Alliance, Kids Voting Utah and the Advisory Board for the Brigham Young University MBA/OBHR track. Ms. Averett is a supporter of the community building efforts of the United Way. She recently completed a term as the chair of the Executive Board of the United Way of Utah County. During her tenure, she helped to guide the organization in a redefinition their strategy and community building efforts. Nu Skin Enterprises� mission is to be a force for good throughout the world. Ms. Averett values this mission and believes the purpose of a human resource department is to benefit the life of employees and to help the organization be as effective as possible. The company shows its commitment to employee health and well-being through the Nu Health program. Using health testing, education, sports competitions and other fun events, employees maintain a high level of health. Under Ms. Averett�s direction, the human resource group has facilitated many strategic initiatives within Nu Skin Enterprises. Understanding the company�s desire to better articulate their strategy and measurement of results, the department created a process of mapping the company�s strategy and defining desired results for executive management. This ultimately resulted in the alignment of all employee goals and initiatives to the strategy of the company. As vice president, Ms. Averett recently directed the launch of a comprehensive talent management/leadership development initiative focused on building leaders at every level to establish a continuous leadership pipeline. Next, the human resources group plans to increase the capabilities of innovation and execution within the company. Ms. Averett is the secretary to the Compensation Committee of Nu Skin Enterprises� Board of Directors.
