Director since May 2003. Member of the audit committee. Since 1971, Professor Canizares has been at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He currently serves as the Vice President for Research and Associate Provost and is Bruno Rossi Professor of Physics. In addition he is a principal investigator on NASA's Chandra X-ray observatory and Associate Director of its science center. Professor Canizares is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the International Academy of Astronautics, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He serves on the governing council of the National Academy of Sciences. |
