Clay von Mueller is a co-founder of Semtek. His job as Chief Scientist is to make sure we have a clear and sober view of technological advancements and how they may affect our product lines. He also runs our IP portfolio, a substantial task that involves significant research into what constitutes the leading edge of payment security. Prior to Semtek, Mr. von Mueller was the Chief Technical Officer for Mos Magnetics Corporation. He was responsible for the design of low power card readers, spatial and temporal decoding algorithms for magnetic stripe card, smart card, and check readers. With co-inventor Bob Mos he developed "Secure Stripe" technology and applied for patents on the Secure Distributed Databases. Prior to Mos Magnetics, Mr. von Mueller established his own consulting firm in 1974 specializing in design electronic equipment for government and the telecommunications industry. His client base included companies such as Strategic Telecom where he designed line powered secure credit card readers for telephones. At Scientific Atlanta, he led a technical team in the hardware development of a compressed digital video link. At Afferent Technologies, he created and patented a technique for process monitoring and control systems. And, at the US Navy, he developed the TWARSES communication and detection system. Mr. von Mueller studied computer science/electronic engineering at the University of California, Berkley and at the Cleveland Institute of Technology. |
