Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation. Mr. Jones has been a director of our company since March 2001. He has been our Chairman of the Board since June 2002 and President and Chief Executive Officer since June 2001. Mr. Jones is a member of the Executive Committee. He served as Senior Vice President of Rockwell International (electronic controls and communications) and President of Rockwell Collins, Inc., then a subsidiary of Rockwell, from January 1999 to May 2001. He served as Executive Vice President of Rockwell Collins, Inc. from November 1996 to January 1999. Mr. Jones is a former Air Force fighter pilot. He also serves as a director of the Unisys Corporation and as a director or member of a number of professional and civic organizations.
Clayton (Clay) M. Jones is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rockwell Collins, a position he was appointed to in June 2002. Jones was president and chief executive officer of Rockwell Collins since 2001, and previously had served as president of Rockwell Collins and was a corporate officer and senior vice president of Rockwell International, positions he was appointed to in December 1998. Prior to that he held positions as vice president and general manager of the Collins Air Transport Division and as corporate senior vice president of Government Operations and International in Washington, D.C., where he represented all Rockwell businesses to international and domestic customers. From 1988 to 1995, Jones was responsible for the space and aircraft systems business areas as vice president of Aerospace Government Affairs and Marketing at Rockwell's Government Operations office in Washington. In 1982, he was sponsored by Rockwell to serve a fellowship in a White House Executive Exchange program. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Jones joined Rockwell International in 1979 after serving in the U.S. Air Force as a fighter pilot. Jones holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee and a master's degree in business administration from George Washington University. Jones serves on the Board of Directors of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum (NASM), and on the Board of Governors of the Aerospace Industry Association (AIA). In addition, Jones is a member of The Business Council, the President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC), and the RTCA Policy Board. He is an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and a director of the Unisys Corporation. Locally, Jones serves on the Board of Directors of the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra (CRSO) association and on Priority One, the economic development arm of the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the Tippie College of Business Board of Visitors at The University of Iowa, the Board of Trustees for the United Way of East Central Iowa (UWECI), and is a member of the Iowa Business Council.
