Mr. Cook is senior vice president of Supply, Distribution and Planning for Marathon Petroleum Company LLC.
Mr. Cook, a Battle Creek, Michigan, native, graduated with a bachelor and master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Detroit in 1969 and 1970. In 1969, he began work for Marathon Oil Company as a refinery engineer at the Detroit Refinery.
After serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1975, he returned to Marathon as engineer and environmental coordinator for the Texas City, Texas, Refinery.
From 1978 to 1984 he moved into Crude Oil Trading and Acquisition in Houston, Texas, and London, England, before coming back to Findlay, Ohio, as manager of Foreign Crude Oil Supply. In 1982, he received his master of science in business administration from Boston University.
In 1984 he was transferred to Denver, Colo., as manager of the Denver Crude Oil office and in 1986 returned to Findlay as manager, Crude Oil Supply for six months before assuming the position as manager of Operations Planning. Effective January 1998, he became vice president, Operations Planning and Product Supply of the newly formed joint venture company, Marathon Ashland Petroleum Company LLC*. January 2001, he was named vice president, Supply, Distribution and Planning, and December 2001, he was appointed to his current position as senior vice president, Supply, Distribution and Planning.
Mr. Cook participated in the University of Michigan's Executive Program in May 1999. In August 2000 he attended the 22nd Oxford Energy Seminar at St. Catherine's College in Oxford, England. He is a member of the Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, The University of Findlay Board of Trustees and also a Trustee of St. Michael's Education Foundation. He is active in various industry organizations such as American Petroleum Institute and Society of Petroleum Engineers.
He is married with four children. |
