Mr. Lai Hyperion Brookfield's Chairman and a Director of the Board oversees the overall management of Crystal River the direction of its growth and the development of strategic business opportunities. He is also a Portfolio Manager for a number of Hyperion Brookfield's investment strategies. In addition Mr. Lai serves as President and Director of Hyperion Brookfield's public and private closed-end funds. Mr. Lai has been with Hyperion Brookfield since 1993 serving as Chief Investment Officer until 2001. Mr. Lai has over 26 years of experience in the industry. Prior to joining Hyperion Brookfield Mr. Lai was Managing Director of Fixed Income at First Boston Asset Management where he was responsible for over $7.5 billion in high-grade fixed income assets. His previous positions include Vice President and Manager of Mortgage Research at Morgan Stanley Senior Portfolio Manager at Benham Capital Management and Asset/Liability Manager for World Savings and Loan in Oakland California. Mr. Lai's portfolio management experience is supplemented by extensive work on the research and development of analytical systems for the evaluation of risk and relative value. He has published numerous articles on fixed-income related topics. Mr. Lai earned a BA from the University of California-Berkeley and an MBA from California State University of San Francisco. |
