Colleen McQuillan brings with her nearly 20 years experience in public relations with an emphasis in media relations, crisis communications and writing. Her work on behalf of clients has included:
Serving as a spokesperson for the American Red Cross in Kansas City, Missouri, and the Midwest Region Blood Services in Omaha, Nebraska.
On a national level, she worked as spokesperson and provided media and crisis communication skills to the Red Cross during disasters such as the Northern California earthquake and floods in Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska and Missouri. In that role, she worked with local and national media, government organizations, the Secret Service, disaster victims, volunteers and celebrities.
She has written and edited publications and speeches for businesses and organizations including the American Red Cross and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. While at Blue Cross and Blue Shield she also handled community and employee communications for the company.
McQuillan has planned and executed various special events, including a 75th anniversary celebration for the Kansas City Red Cross.
She has helped develop long-range communications and fund-raising plans for the Red Cross in Kansas City and Omaha.
She has recently been a communications consultant providing media relations and fund-raising expertise as well as writing and editing to businesses and organizations.
McQuillan earned a B.A. in journalism from Creighton University. She currently is a member of the Friends of Habitat for Humanity board of directors in Omaha and has served on the boards of directors of PRSA in Kansas City and the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Nebraska.
