Cory J. Thompson is a Director in the Valuation & Financial Opinions Group. He has provided valuation and litigation advisory services for numerous purposes including fairness opinions, estate and gift taxation, purchase and sale advisement, marital dissolution, shareholder disputes, property taxation, and other tax, corporate, and litigation related matters. Moreover, Mr. Thompson has performed numerous purchase price allocations and business valuations for acquisitions of companies in a variety of industries, and he has experience with the expectations of financial reporting advisors and regulators regarding purchase price allocations. Mr. Thompson is well versed in FASB Statements 141 and 142 regarding business combinations and impairment testing. Mr. Thompson has served numerous industries including automotive suppliers, health care, help supply services, tool and die, and wholesale distribution. Additionally, Mr. Thompson has served a wide variety of businesses in the entertainment, sports, and media industries including professional sports franchises, professional sports venues, newspaper publishers, marketing services companies, commercial printers, and wireless telecommunications service providers. In addition to his valuation and litigation advisory experience, Mr. Thompson also has significant real estate valuation and consulting experience. His experience encompasses a wide range of commercial real estate engagements for local, national, and international clients for a variety of purposes including asset-based lending, proposed developments, condemnation, and cost allocation. Mr. Thompson earned a BS in Business with majors in Finance and Accounting from Miami University graduating magna cum laude. He is currently a member of the CFA Institute, the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, and the Turnaround Management Association. Mr. Thompson has also earned the right to use Chartered Financial Analyst and the Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor designations. Mr. Thompson has presented continuing education seminars on the subject of business valuation for financial reporting purposes.
