Cynthia Ngwe is an associate at the international law firm McDermott Will & Emery, based in its London office. She is a member of the European Competition Department, where her antitrust expertise includes counselling on pricing, distribution and IP licensing (including data consortia, standards & patent pool licensing), abuse of dominance complaints and defence, cartel representation, EU merger and joint venture approval, UK merger and joint venture approval, multi-national merger approval, as well as litigation arising from these matters before the English Courts and European Courts of Justice.
Cynthia has substantial experience in a variety of industries, covering telecommunications, IT, pharmaceuticals, media, consumer products, financial services, energy, sport and transport, in the context international mergers, complex abuse of dominance investigations and EU market sector inquiries.

Represented a German conglomerate in obtaining EU merger clearance, after a 6-month in-depth investigation, for a joint venture which combined the nuclear power and electricity activities of the parent companies

Represented Sandisk Corporation in bringing Article 81/82 EC action against MP3 patent pool in the English High Court
Represented Nike Inc. and PUMA AG in bringing an Article 81/82 EC action against international tennis federations in the English High Court and negotiating settlements terms
Advised various IT/IP companies regarding conditions and terms of access to patent pool and data consortia, including pricing/royalties
Advised generic pharmaceutical company on antitrust counterclaims in a patent infringement dispute and negotiating settlement terms
