Dr. Cynthia Ann Telles is the Director of the Spanish Speaking Psychosocial Clinic of the Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital at UCLA School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She is the chair of the board of directors of The California Endowment, and she serves on the boards of the Kaiser Foundation Health Plans and Hospitals, the Music Center and the City of Los Angeles Board of Library Commissioners. She is currently a member of the Mental Health Task Force of The Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia and sits on the board of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health. Her many awards include a certificate of appreciation from the Los Angeles Mayor's Office, a Woman of Courage award from the City of Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women, and certificates of recognition from the Los Angeles Police Department, the California State Legislature and the U.S. Congress. Dr. Telles received a Bachelor's degree from Smith College in Massachusetts and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University. She has been widely published and is co-editor of the 1994 book, Latino Mental Health: Current Research and Policy Perspectives. Dr. Telles and her husband, Robert M. Hertzberg, Speaker Emeritus of the California State Assembly, have three sons. |
