Dan Hatch is a Partner and the head of the Partner Practice Group for Major, Lindsey & Africa in Southern California, and devotes his work exclusively to partner recruiting. Dan's practice is focused on two areas: providing professional representation for partners seeking an alternative partnership and providing focused strategic search efforts for law firm clients. Dan has made numerous partner placements with major US firms.
Prior to recruiting, Dan had 16 years of extensive experience in both corporate and private law. Dan attended UCLA, where he earned a B.S. with honors, and earned a J.D. in the top of his class from the UC Davis School of Law. After spending his first summer clerking with Paul Hastings, Dan spent his early career as a real estate attorney with Allen, Matkins et al., and was subsequently hired by Home Depot to start a legal department for the company's Western Division. Over a 12 year period, Dan built and managed a legal team to handle numerous legal issues, but was most influential in the real estate and development activities of Home Depot's prolific growth throughout the 90's. It was Dan's work here that earned him recognition as one of the Top 20 Lawyers Under 40 in California by the California Daily Journal.
Dan's work is perhaps best described by this testimonial from a recently placed partner at a major firm - Dan Hatch provided me with an exhaustive amount of information relating to my practice, its compatibility with area firms, the 'personalities' and cultures of firms that I considered, compensation and life style issues and a host of market and law firm factors. Further, Dan made a sincere effort to get to know me personally and his insight, guidance and advocacy proved extremely valuable in the interviewing and evaluation process. In a word, he proved indispensable to my recent career move.
Dan resides in Newport Beach with his wife Karol, and their three children. He is involved in community issues, and serves on the Board of Directors for Public Counsel in Los Angeles. In addition to being an avid San Diego professional sports fan, a true testament to his patience and sense of hometown loyalty, Dan enjoys playing guitar, tennis, poker and golf. |
