Daniel Gottlieb is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm�s Chicago office. As a member of the Health Department, Daniel�s practice focuses on advising health care providers, pharmaceutical companies and medical device companies on compliance with federal and state health care laws and in connection with mergers, acquisitions and other transactions.
Daniel has significant experience advising clients on Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, fraud and abuse, federal and state health information privacy and state licensure issues. He authored the outpatient rehabilitation chapter of A Guide to Complying with Stark Physician Self-Referral Rules. He also wrote an article on Medicare's physician supervision requirements for diagnostic tests that appeared in the Summer 2001 issue of The Rap Sheet, a publication of the American Health Lawyers Association, and an article regarding health care regulatory requirements affecting the provision of physical therapist services by a physician group for the May-June 2003 issue of Orthopedic Technology Review.
During law school, Daniel earned Order of the Coif. He was also an associate note and comment editor of the Northwestern University Law Review.
After completing his bachelor's degree, he was staff associate for the government affairs, public affairs and marketing departments of Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center in Chicago. At Mount Sinai, he worked extensively on Illinois Medicaid and other federal, state and local health care issues.
