ON Semiconductor Board of Directors elected J. Daniel McCranie as Chairman of the Board in August 2002. He first joined the board as an independent director in November 2001 and served as a key advisor through the company's realignment of its sales and marketing realignment. He joined Virage Logic CP as Chairman of the Board in August 2003. Virage Logic CP is a provider of application-optimized semiconductor intellectual property platforms based on memory, logic and design tools that are silicon proven and production ready. Mr. McCranie also serves on the Board of Directors of Actel Corporation, a supplier of innovative programmable logic solutions and Cypress Semiconductors, a diversified, broadline semiconductor supplier with a communications focus.
From 1993 to 2001, Mr. McCranie was employed by Cypress Semiconductor Corporation, a diversified, broadline semiconductor supplier with a communications focus located in San Jose, California, most recently as Vice President, Marketing and Sales. He retired from that position in 2001.
From 1986 to 1993, Mr. McCranie was President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of SEEQ Technology, Inc., a manufacturer of semiconductor devices. Leading up to his tenure at SEEQ, he held positions of increasing responsibility in management, engineering, and sales and marketing at Harris Corporation, Advanced Micro Devices, American Microsystems and Philips Corporation.
Mr. McCranie earned his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg , Virginia.
