Dr. Daniel Kraushaar directs the foundation�s Global Health Strategies Program. His portfolio includes foundation initiatives in vaccine-preventable diseases, nutrition, newborn and child health, and cross-cutting strategies to improve access to health tools in developing countries.
Kraushaar joined the foundation in 2005 from Management Sciences for Health, where he was director of its global flagship child survival project, BASICS, based in Washington, D.C. His career spans 30 years in international health and includes 18 years of work overseas in NGOs, three government ministries of health (Indonesia, Swaziland, and Kenya), and USAID (Nairobi).
Kraushaar�s primary interest has been managing teams that translate new ideas and technologies into effective field programs. In Ethiopia, he focused on methods to eradicate smallpox. In Indonesia, it was the distribution of vitamin A and other child health interventions. In Africa, his focus was on applying new delivery practices to improve primary health care and on improving the effectiveness of health sector reform efforts.
Kraushaar has a Doctor of Science degree from The Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Hawaii. |
