Patients and family members want to be heard and it is our job to listen and do whatever we can to make them more comfortable. Danita is someone who shines at actively listening to her patients and family members and helping them feel more in control.
Several patients and family members nominated Danita saying that when she was on duty, the day was always better. Everyone writing in said Danita always sat and listened closely to what they needed or how they were feeling, and even if there was nothing she could physically do, just knowing someone was there to listen made them feel better. Danita�s follow through was also appreciated.
One patient said: Danita was my nurse, or should I say my angel? It was a really bad day for me. I just sort of unloaded on her in tears and at that moment, more than anything she could have done, she consoled me. In a gentle and soft voice, she asked me if there was anything she could do to make things better. I was just totally uplifted after that. |
