Dave Cohen begins his sixth season with the Falcons and third as the team's Vice President of Sales. In his role, Cohen spearheads the sale and service of all Falcons tickets, which include season tickets, group tickets and all hospitality programs.
Cohen and his staff are also responsible for the sale of all premium seat inventories in the Georgia Dome, which include suites, club seats, the new super suites and the "Owner's Club".
In addition to the sales efforts, Cohen is responsible for the team's fan services and research & development areas, as well as the marketing for the team's Bank of America affinity credit card.
In 2003, the team and Cohen's department took on the additional responsibility from the Georgia Dome by selling the premium seating in the facility. This past season there were over 120 suites and 2,100 club seats up for renewal. Cohen's staff successfully sold out all of that inventory. This feat also helped keep all of the suites and club seats sold out for the third consecutive season.
In 2006, Cohen was heavily involved in the renovation of all the premium seat areas in the Dome. This major renovation included a remodeling of the suites, both club lounges, and creation of the new super suites concept.
During his time in Atlanta, the Falcons have sold out 51 consecutive home games, a franchise record, and have sold out all season tickets for the fourth consecutive year. The team now has a season ticket waiting list over 90,000, which is one of the longest in the NFL. In 2002, in his first season, Cohen and his team set an 83-year old NFL record by selling over 21,000 new season tickets and then followed that up in 2003 by selling another 20,000.
Prior to coming to the Falcons, Cohen was the Director of Ticket Sales for the Portland Trail Blazers in the National Basketball Association. During his tenure with the Blazers, the team sold out 104 consecutive home games and had the highest season ticket base in team history. Before Portland, Cohen was instrumental in working with the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers. During his time in Edmonton, his main responsibility was overseeing the ticket sales efforts. These efforts included doubling the season ticket base to over 13,000. This feat ultimately saved the team from moving from Canada.
His first job in sports was working in minor league baseball and hockey, in Spokane, Washington Cohen sold tickets for the Spokane Indians (baseball) and Spokane Chiefs (hockey). Both teams are owned by the Brett Brothers (George, Bobby and the late Ken Brett).
Cohen is a 1992 graduate of the University of Portland. He and his wife, Kathy, reside in Duluth, Georgia with their son, Casey (9), and daughter, Kamryn (7). In his spare time, Cohen enjoys coaching both his son's and daughter's little league baseball, softball and basketball teams. |
