Dave Cox is a teacher at Sego Lily Elementary School in Lehi, Utah. He has also taught at Lehi Elementary (Lehi, Utah) and Orchard Elementary (Orem, Utah). He holds a bachelor�s degree in elementary education and a master�s degree in public school administration from Brigham Young University as well as an administrative credential. Cox was elected to the Utah state Legislature in 1998 and again in 2000 and 2002. In the Legislature, he served as chair of both the Workforce Services and Community and Economic Development and the Native American Legislative Liaison committees. He has been a member of the Public Education Appropriation Subcommittee; the 2004 School Building Task Force; the Natural Resources and Agriculture and Public Utilities committees, and Political Subdivisions. Cox has been the major push behind smaller schools and school districts in Utah for several years and helped pass the bill that sets up a process for creating new, smaller school districts. He has also helped lead the successful petition drive to begin that process for the Lehi High School area and now serves on the ad hoc committee to research the benefits of splitting the nearby Alpine School District. |
