David W. Simpson is Managing Partner of D.W. Simpson & Company. Dave founded D.W. Simpson & Company in May, 1989 after having gained his early experience in executive recruiting with a general insurance search firm. He limited the focus of the firm to actuarial recruiting because he believes that in an increasingly technical world with constant shrinking of profit margins, demand for the set of skills which actuaries possess will continue to increase even into non-traditional roles. He began with the idea that only by devoting all of the firm's time and energies to the actuarial employment market, could it provide the degree of expertise and market coverage necessary to effectively serve its clients and candidate base. Upon graduating from The Ohio State University in 1981, with a B.A. in History, Dave began his career working for the investment firm of Dean Witter. From there, he moved on to the Chicago Board Options Exchange where he spent four years as an Independent Floor Trader prior to beginning in the Executive Search field. In addition to running the operations of the firm, Dave is also actively involved in the day-to-day recruiting efforts. When not in the office, Dave is a member of the Board of Advisors for Catholic Charities of Chicago. He also sits on the Board of Advisors to the International Association of Black Actuaries. As hobbies, he likes to cycle, weightlift and enjoys going to numerous Chicago Cubs baseball games. He also does quite a bit of traveling. Dave is married and the father of three. |
