Dave Smith is an internationally known speaker, trainer, and writer with an extraordinary commitment to the police profession. He has been an integral part of the Calibre Press family for over 20 years. As a career police officer, Dave held positions in patrol, training, narcotics, SWAT, and management. In 1980 he developed the popular "Buck Savage" survival series videos and was the lead instructor for the Calibre Press "Street Survival" seminar from 1983 to 1985. He was a contributor to popular "Tactical Edge" handbook and was the Operational Training Commander for the Arizona State Police in 1990 when he joined the Law Enforcement Television Network. When LETN acquired Press in 1999, Dave once again became the driving force behind the "Street Survival" seminars, teaching officers not only to survive, but also to win confrontations and remain strong & healthy throughout their law enforcement careers. As the president of Dave Smith & Associates, a law enforcement & management consulting company based in Illinois, Dave has developed hundreds of programs across the spectrum of police & security training needs. He is now the senior Street Survival seminar instructor and the Director of Video Training for the Calibre Press Training Network. He has authored articles for The Police Marksman, Law & Order, Police, and Police Chief magazines, is an advisory board member of The Police Marksman magazine and a regular columnist for Police One and the Calibre Press "Newsline."
