David B. Fawcett is a shareholder of Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. He concentrates his practice in all areas of Civil Litigation, with a particular emphasis in Commercial Litigation and Alternate Dispute Resolution. Mr. Fawcett is a prominent Bar leader. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (President, 1980 81), the Allegheny County Bar Association (President, 1965), and the American Bar Association (Member, House of Delegates, 1980-1990). He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the U.S., Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He is a permanent member of the Judicial Conference for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit (Chair, Lawyers Advisory Committee, 1978). He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, the International Society of Barristers, and the American, Pennsylvania, and Allegheny County Bar Foundations. Mr. Fawcett is known as an exceptionally able trial lawyer with continuous trial and appellate experience in both the State and Federal Courts. For many years he has been involved in Alternate Dispute Resolution matters as a lawyer and as a successful and experienced mediator and arbitrator. He is also a counselor and advisor to other lawyers and clients. Mr. Fawcett has practiced his entire career with the law firm of Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, except for a brief period of time when he served as a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County. While in law school, he worked as a law clerk for Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote and, after his admittance to the Bar, he practiced in all areas of the law as a general practitioner in addition to his trial work. His Civil Litigation practice has involved litigation in many areas, including professional malpractice, personal injury, estates and trusts, banking, real estate and leasing, construction, securities, anti-trust, product liability, transportation, libel, mining, environmental, franchising, bankruptcy, staff privileges for physicians and hospitals, sex, age and racial discrimination, personal services contracts, take-over and acquisitions, contracts, non-compete agreements, unfair competition and trade secrets, and general commercial and corporation matters. Mr. Fawcett has been listed in each edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the categories of Business Litigation, Personal Injury Litigation, and recently in the new Bet Your Company Litigation category. Mr. Fawcett graduated from Bucknell University with a B.S. in Commerce and Finance. He received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1953, where he was a member of the Law Review. Mr. Fawcett is a former Adjunct Professor of Trial Tactics at Pitt Law School and President of the University of Pittsburgh Law Alumni Association. He was awarded Pitt Law School�s Distinguished Alumni Award and is a Member of the University of Pittsburgh�s Board of Trustees. Mr. Fawcett has received the Pennsylvania Bar Association�s Gilbert Nurick Award (1993), the Civil Litigation Section of the Allegheny County Bar Associations� Professionalism Award (2000), and the Allegheny County Academy of Trial Lawyers� Distinguished Service Award (2005). Mr. Fawcett is a member of the Board of Directors of the UPMC Health System and the UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC Shadyside Joint Board of Directors. He was the first President of the Neighborhood Legal Services Corp., a former Director of the Shaler Area School Board, and a member of the Transition Team for the new 2000 Allegheny County governing body. Mr. Fawcett serves regularly as a mediator and arbitrator, often directly at the request of the parties in dispute. He is a member of the CPR, ADR, Juris, Judicate, National Arbitration, and Mediation panels and the AAA Complex Litigation panel.
