David B. Stafford is senior vice president, Corporate Affairs and executive assistant to the chairman and chief executive officer of The McGraw-Hill Companies. He manages the marketing, communications, government affairs and community relations activities of the Corporation. He also works directly with Harold (Terry) McGraw III, chairman, president and chief executive officer of The McGraw-Hill Companies, on matters involving the Board of Directors and the corporation overall.
Before assuming his position in 2006, David was associate general counsel for the Corporation, with particular focus on legal matters involving Standard & Poor's and Platts. In addition, he practiced in a variety of other legal areas for the corporation, including mergers and acquisitions, employment law, libel and First Amendment and antitrust. He also served as a member of Standard & Poor's U.S. Index Committee. Prior to his appointment as associate general counsel, The McGraw-Hill Companies, David served as assistant general counsel, Standard & Poor's Information Services group.
Before joining The McGraw-Hill Companies in 1992, David was an associate at the New York City law firms of Battle Fowler and Rosenman & Colin.
David received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in 1984 and his law degree from Cornell University Law School in 1987. He is a member of the Board of Directors of YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities, as well as a member of the American Bar Association. |
