Dr. David D. Einum has ultimate responsibility for all aspects of legal relationship testing at Sorenson Genomics' genetic testing laboratory in Salt Lake City, UT. He reviews and reports all legal casework involving autosomal, Y chromosomal and mitochondrial DNA analyses. Dr. Einum also plays a lead role in the design of processes and policies integral to laboratory operations. He is also actively engaged in the education of existing and prospective clients to aid in the understanding of genetic test results and to help determine which tests are most appropriate given particular circumstances. Furthermore, as lead scientist of Sorenson Genomics' Research and Development team, Dr. Einum oversees the development, validation and implementation of new technologies and testing services. Dr. Einum received a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Zoology in 1993 from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. Following his undergraduate work, he attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City as a graduate student where he studied the role unstable trinucleotide repeats play in neurodegenerative disease. This work led to multiple publications in the scientific literature as well as to a Ph.D. in Human Genetics in 2001. Dr. Einum joined Sorenson Genomics in 2006 after performing the duties of Associate Laboratory Director at an Orchid Cellmark parentage testing facility in Michigan. He is an active member of the AABB (the accrediting body for US relationship testing) and the American Society of Human Genetics. Dr. Einum lives in Salt Lake City, UT where he enjoys golfing, roller hockey, mountain biking, hiking and backpacking. |
