David G. Carpenter serves as Vice President of Corporate Planning and Controller. In that position he is responsible for Financial Accounting Taxation (Federal State and Local) Corporate Planning Customer Billing and Collections and Payroll.
Carpenter has more than 28 years of experience in the electric utility industry. Most recently he served as Director of Texas Regulatory Services for American Electric Power a public utility holding company with assets of more than $34 billion. In that position he was responsible for regulatory activities in Texas for three AEP electric utility subsidiaries. Prior to that Carpenter held various professional positions with subsidiaries of Central and South West Corporation prior to its acquisition by AEP including Director of Regulatory Case Management; Assistant Controller and Director of Accounting for Central and Southwest Services; and Director of Rates and Regulatory Affairs for Central Power and Light Company. He also served as Controller for West Texas Utilities Company. Carpenter started his career as a Financial Accountant for Houston Power and Light Company.
Carpenter has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Texas Tech University. He also completed the Public Utility Executive Program at the University of Michigan and is a Certified Public Accountant. Carpenter is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
