David H. Persing, MD, PhD has served as a director since December 2000. Dr. Persing received his BA degree in biochemistry from San Jose State University, and his MD and PhD (biochemistry and biophysics) concurrently from the University of California, San Francisco. After completing his residency in clinical pathology and fellowship training at Yale University in 1989, Dr. Persing was appointed to the medical and research staff of the Mayo Clinic, where he became Director of the Molecular Microbiology Laboratory and an Associate Professor at the Mayo Medical School. In August 1999, Dr. Persing became employed at Corixa Corporation, a research and development-based biotechnology company, where he is Vice President of Discovery Research, as well as a Principal Investigator in the Infectious Disease Research Institute, a non-profit research organization. Dr. Persing serves on the board of directors of Cepheid. |
