David J. Olson brings a wide variety of skills and experiences to our firm. He has a strong track record and a consistent history of being able to make things happen. He began his career with a Wall Street bank and, after two years, joined what is now LTV Steel as a salesman. He rose quickly through numerous promotions to the position of General Manager of Sales. The majority of his time was spent in Detroit handling responsibilities in many other markets and areas of the country. This included the Japanese automakers, which gave him the opportunity to develop strong relationships with a variety of Asian companies. He has traveled extensively throughout the region.
In 1990, he joined Bing Steel LLC as President and CEO. After eight years in growing that business into a leading automotive steel service center he put together a creative joint venture and formed Bing Blanking LLC, where he served as President. In these positions he had the opportunity to gain experience in many other areas including QS 9000, mergers and acquisitions, Six Sigma, Labor negotiations, banking, joint ventures, strategic planning, purchasing, human resources and diversity management, among others.
David graduated from the University of Minnesota, did graduate work at Pace College in New York, and completed an Executive Program at Darden. He and his wife Elaine live in northern Michigan.
Mr. Olson believes strongly that one of the keys to success is to surround yourself with the best people you can find. He credits much of his success to having the ability to do just that. |
