David heads the firm's bankruptcy and creditors' rights practice group and is a member of the firm's business section. He joined the firm in 1987 and became a shareholder in 1993. David holds the highest peer review rating available ("AV") for competency and legal ethics by Martindale-Hubble (www.martindale.com) and was selected by his peers to Virginia Business Magazine's 2007 "Legal Elite" in the category of Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights (www.virginiabusiness.com). David's practice focuses on business reorganization and restructuring, creditors' rights, commercial litigation and general business law. In 2003, David received his Board Certification in business bankruptcy law from the American Board of Certification (www.abcworld.org), an affiliate of the American Bankruptcy Institute. David is a past president of the bankruptcy section of the Richmond Bar Association, a past president of the Business Finance and Turnaround Association, a former editor of the Bankruptcy Law News and has written numerous articles on insolvency-related topics. David has successfully reorganized a wide array of businesses through chapter 11 and out-of-court restructurings and routinely represents creditors' committees, trustees, banks, landlords, secured creditors and other entities in Chapter 11 and other bankruptcy proceedings. David also regularly represents individuals in workouts and in complex bankruptcies under chapters 7,11, 12 and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. David has served as court-appointed receiver for a wide variety of business entities. David received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 1984, where he majored in Economics and minored in Foreign Affairs, and received his law degree from University of Virginia in 1987. |
