As a father of four, I love being part of a business that is all about kids. To be able to talk about what I'm up to at work with my oldest son and daughter and have them be able to relate to what I'm involved in is very cool in my eyes.
kajeet is a startup with great aspirations. I've been involved in managing the growth of startups and emerging companies throughout my career. My broad experience includes finance, business development, and sales operations. Being part of kajeet makes perfect sense to me.
I was a key member of the executive team that founded USinternetworking, a leading application service provider (ASP) providing hosted software applications to businesses. I created the business plan that landed the company $99 million in venture capital financing in the first year of operations. As part of the team that launched this business, I created the foundation for the way the company managed its financials, headed our contracts with clients, developed the tools we needed to design and build our solutions, and drove the overall pricing strategy for the company. In my five years with USi, I was the bridge between the financial objectives of the CFO's office and the operational and sales side of the business. I headed sales operations, developed and maintained relationships with strategic partners, and led the team responsible for our client relationships.
Before working with USi, I served as the CFO of PICO, a startup that provided wireless networking devices. Before that, I spent seven years at ARINC, where I played a major role developing the business plan for a joint venture startup providing network services in Korea, and for a subsidiary providing network services in the U.S. in support of the travel industry. In a much earlier part of my career, I worked as a technician in a clean room environment responsible to build the wiring harness for the COBE spacecraft, which is currently still operating somewhere out there looking for signs of the "big bang."
I hold a B.S. in business finance and an MBA from the University of Maryland. I'm a lifelong sports enthusiast, being both a player and a fan of many sports. I really enjoy coaching my kids' soccer teams, and I am a huge fan of the Terps, Cowboys, Ravens and DC United. I relax with coffee and my newspaper in the morning, even if only for 10 minutes. I grew up in a rural area of central Florida surrounded by my large extended family. Some of my best childhood memories are of the days I spent on my grandparents' farm with all of my family and friends around me.
I have four children, ages 21, 17, 4 and 3. I married my high school sweetheart and we got an early start raising our two oldest children, and we're now doing it all over again with our youngest two. We have a completely different perspective on parenting the second time around. I've learned to slow down and appreciate the everyday company of my children, to notice the little things, and to participate in every aspect of parenting, things that I may have missed before when I was finishing school or working late at night. I really appreciate the opportunity to have both sets of experiences, and believe I'm a better parent for it. |
