Mr. David Exline the director of pharmaceutical and biotechnology services at RJLG. He manages the laboratory and consulting services for the pharmaceutical industry. He specializes in routine pharmaceutical materials characterization, particulate contamination analysis, particle sizing and high-resolution microscopy. He uses a wide variety of instrumental techniques including scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, high performance liquid chromatography, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and RAMAN. In addition, Mr. Exline is a senior forensic scientist. He examines evidence such as hairs, fibers, paints and other trace evidence. Before returning to RJLG in July 2003, Mr. Exline was a forensic scientist at ChemImage Corporation, where he conducted forensic analysis for law enforcement and private sector agencies and was responsible for the development and implementation of analytical instrumentation for the forensic community. Prior to this, Mr. Exline was responsible for the oversight and functions of the trace evidence section of the Anne Arundel County Police Department Crime Laboratory in Millersville, MD. Mr. Exline has instructed law enforcement agencies, attorneys and students in the collection, preservation and examination of trace evidence. He is a court-qualified expert in various areas of trace evidence examination. Mr. Exline was the recipient of the 1999 American Academy of Forensic Sciences Regional Award and the 1999 International Association of Forensic Sciences Emerging Forensic Scientist Continental Award. Mr. Exline is a diplomate of the American Board of Criminalistics, a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, Mid-Atlantic Association of Forensic Scientists, International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts and the Forensic Science Society. He has published several papers in the Journal of Forensic Sciences and co-authored The Forensic Animal Hair Atlas on CD-ROM and the textbook Current Methods in Gunshot Residue Analysis (CRC Press). |
