David L. Romero is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's San Diego office. He is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department.
Prior to joining McDermott, David worked for an international law firm, where he was responsible for the drafting and prosecution of biotechnology-related provisional, non-provisional and PCT filings. Previously, he worked as both a patent prosecutor and drug discovery scientist for Pfizer Inc. focusing research efforts on several therapeutic areas including cancer, diabetes and anti-virals. He was responsible for prosecution and drafting of non-provisional, provisional and PCT filings for primarily small molecule inventions as well as working with in-house synthetic chemists, patent counsel and project colleagues to optimize lead chemical matter for desired ADME and in vivo PK Parameters.
After receiving his M.S. in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of New Mexico, David worked as both an analytical chemist for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Albuquerque, New Mexico as well as a protein chemist for San Diego based Protein Polymer Technologies Inc. David received his B.A. in chemistry from the University of New Mexico as well.
David is admitted to practice in California as well as before the Federal Court for the Southern District of California and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the San Diego Intellectual Property Association.
