Always listen to the athletes. This quote from Phil Knight is one of my favorites, as most of my life has been framed by sports, primarily team sports. As a player through high school and in my first career as an athletic trainer, the importance of connecting with the athlete was second nature. My first exposure to this brands athlete-inspired technology was cleats designed for artificial turf that adapted spring steel to create toe plates to protect and prevent turf toe injuries. Today, Nike innovation takes form in solutions as simple as the plate or as highly engineered as a Swift Suit used by Olympic athletes but all these breakthroughs start with the act of listening to the athlete. |
