David Kennedy is Chief Executive Officer of Interep the largest independent national sales and marketing organization specializing in radio the Internet and new media.
Mr. Kennedy started as a staff announcer at WMHE in Toledo Ohio in 1971. In 1973 he joined Susquehanna Media at WLQR in Toledo where he held various positions (Announcer Program Director Operations Manager). He was promoted to Director of Program Research at Susquehanna Radio Corp. in 1979 and to Vice President Planning and Research in 1983.
In August of 1989 Mr. Kennedy was named Senior Vice President and assumed direct responsibility for WFMS Indianapolis and WRRM Cincinnati. He also managed group planning marketing programming and research operations for all Susquehanna stations. He later became President/COO of Susquehanna Radio Corp. in January of 1995.
Mr. Kennedy was named President/CEO of Susquehanna Media Co. December 7 2004 (parent company of Susquehanna Radio Corp. and Susquehanna Communications Co. - SusCom). The company was sold in May of 2006.
He is a 1975 graduate of University of Toledo (OH) with a Master's Degree (MA) from Bowling Green State University (OH) in 1976 and a Ph.D. from Bowling Green in 1981.
Over the past decade Kennedy has been one of the broadcast industry's most active leaders. He is a past chairman of the National Association of Broadcasters Joint Board of Directors and has served as chairman or member of a number of NAB committees including the Radio Board of Directors; Responsible Programming Industry Task Force; Financial Advisory Committee; Committee on Local Radio Audience Measurement (COLRAM); and Radio Audience Measurement Taskforce (RAMTF).
He is also a past chairman of the Radio Advertising Bureau's Board of Directors as well as a member of its Executive Committee. He was also a member of the RAB's GOALS committee and served as past chair of the RAB?s Finance Committee as well as the Research and New Technologies Committees. |
