Golf Channel Chief Executive Officer David Manougian is responsible for overseeing the network�s overall business initiatives including marketing and sales programming production and new media.
Since assuming leadership of the network as president in January 2002 Manougian has focused on The Golf Channel�s mission of providing meaningful and relevant programming to its loyal viewers and preparing the organization to capitalize on future opportunities.
One of the first employees hired by the network Manougian managed several departments before transitioning to his current position succeeding founder and former president and CEO Joseph E. Gibbs. He was promoted to chief executive officer in June 2006.
Previously Manougian served the network as chief operating officer a position that allowed him to become involved in all facets of the business. In this position he led programming production and operations consumer and affiliate marketing initiatives promotional strategies as well as The Golf Channel�s home video and merchandising programs. He also was responsible for managing the sponsorship sales team which realized aggressive growth under his leadership increasing revenues for the network by double digits each year since 1994. As chief marketing officer Manougian led the re-launch of the company�s new-media division www.TheGolfChannel.com - capitalizing on marketing advertising and e-commerce opportunities presented by this interactive medium.
The brainchild of Manougian the Mutual of Omaha Drive Chip & Putt Junior Challenge presented by The Golf Channel began under his leadership in 1999 as a community outreach program to help grow the game. This series of free events held across the United States and Canada gives boys and girls ages 7-14 an opportunity to compete in a series of events designed to develop and test basic golf skills in a format that is fun to all regardless of ability level or previous exposure to the game. Also it provides local cable affiliates with a turnkey program to help grow their businesses and give back to their communities.
Prior to joining The Golf Channel Manougian served as the director of golf sales and marketing for Nike Inc. and was a field marketing and sales manager for E&J Gallo Winery.
He is a native of Portland Ore. and a graduate of Portland State University with a degree in marketing and management. He and his wife of 14 years live in Orlando with their daughter. |
