David Montgomery is currently chairman of Team Northern Ireland - established by the First and Deputy First Minister's Office of Northern Ireland to stimulate a private sector response to funding major public projects in Northern Ireland. Its members include high-profile Northern Ireland business figures who during the course of 2003 facilitated the transfer in ownership of a key electricity facility into public ownership. A graduate from Queens University Belfast in History and Politics; Mr. Montgomery brings a wealth of connections within Northern Ireland and Britain as well as substantial business experience with both large established conglomerates and small-capitalization start-up companies.
Mr. Montgomery is the former Chief Executive of the Mirror Group plc who expanded the newspaper group from a market cap of �230 million to �1.2 billion shortly before its merger with Trinity plc. He is also former non-executive director for Donahue Inc. Scottish Media Group the Press Association and a former Managing Director of News UK. Currently Mr. Montgomery's principal role is Chairman of Mecom UK Management a European media investment company. He is also chairman of The African Lakes Corporation plc Integrated Education Fund Development Board (NI) Espresso Broadband Ltd and West 175 Media Group plc. |
