David Rapier is currently senior vice president of business operations for Avnet's operational excellence team, Culture of Excellence, reporting to Chief Operational Excellence Officer Ed Kamins. Mr. Rapier stepped into this role in July 2005. Previously, he served in various executive positions with Avnet's Global Information Solutions (Information Technology) organization and the former Avnet Applied Computing operating group, including director of operations, vice president of operations and senior vice president/chief of staff. He was elected a corporate vice president in December 2002.
He joined Avnet in 1976 and served until 1990, then returned in 1996. His broad background and experience within Avnet's operating groups includes sales, operations and management, including interaction with key suppliers, the management and mentoring of company executives and the leadership of acquisition integration teams.
His early years were with Hamilton-Avnet where he functioned as a general manager, regional director and area director. He later participated in starting up an Internet sales business, AvnetDirect, as part of the Avnet Computer Marketing group.
Mr. Rapier studied business at Brigham Young University. He enjoys spectator sports and continues to be an avid fan of BYU. |
