David Simpson has served as a director since September 2004. Professor Simpson served as a director of Bookham Technology plc from March 1995 to June 2004. Professor Simpson became the vice chairman of Bookham Technology plc's board of directors in August 2000 and, before assuming that position, served as the chairman of the board of directors of Bookham Technology plc. Prior to joining Bookham Technology plc, Professor Simpson was employed by the Gould Corporation, a manufacturer of electronic equipment and components, in Chicago, Illinois, from 1976 to 1986, serving as its President from 1980 to 1986, when he retired. Professor Simpson serves as the Chairman of several privately-held companies, including, Environcom Ltd, Conjunct Ltd, Freelight Ltd and MIMIV Ltd. In 1992, the Queen awarded Professor Simpson the CBE for services to the electronics industry. Professor Simpson has received honorary doctorates in Science and Technology from Heriot Watt, Abertay and Napier Universities in Scotland and he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. |
