David Sperling comes from a background of work in both film and televison. Most recently he has worked on a number of documentary projects, including "Dream Science Clsassroom" (currently in production), "Elle Deco: Behind the Design" and the series "Building America's Home" for Discovery Networks (in association with Mad Dog Films), as well as documentaries about New Orleans musicians in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Ivy League Football, Klesmer Music, and a biography of Billy Strayhorn. He has served as Director of Photography for more than a dozen feature films, including the quirky comedy "Cool Blue" (featuring Woody Harrelson and Hank Azaria), noirish thriller "The Drifter" (Kim Delaney), and cult favorites "Street Trash" and "Mom." In television he is best known for his work on the period American Movie Classics comedy series "Remember WENN" -- receiving a Cable Ace Award for series cinematography, and for his Emmy-nominated work on the "Mathnet" series for PBS. Two recent independent feature films, "Mass of Angels" and "Black-Eyed Susan," for which Sperling acted both as Director of Photography and Associate Producer in collaboration with director Jim Riffel, have been currently making the rounds of the festival circuit, garnering more than a dozen awards.
