Mr. McConnell is a shareholder of Kennedy Childs & Fogg, P.C., practicing in the area of health law and business litigation since 1989. He was born in Denver, Colorado, and completed both his undergraduate education in business administration and his juris doctorate degree at the University of Denver. While not exclusively limited to health care entities, his practice primarily involves representation and counseling of hospitals, physicians and dentists, medical and dental groups, management service organizations, clinics, and other health care providers and entities. He provides his clients with a full range of legal services, including entity organization; sale and dissolution; employment contracts, handbooks and policy manuals; regulatory compliance; HIPAA compliance; antitrust compliance and litigation; peer review, privileging and credentialing issues; employment advice and litigation; billing issues; and a variety of other health care business issues. In the healthcare field, Mr. McConnell also represents several of the largest health and disability insurance carriers in Colorado and other states, principally in the areas of benefit disputes, billing and payment disputes, provider contracting issues, ERISA litigation, antitrust litigation, bad faith litigation, and employment law. Mr. McConnell's current practice evolved over the years from his defense of medical professionals and entities in malpractice lawsuits, which he continues to handle. In this area, Mr. McConnell has successfully tried numerous cases involving professionals from a variety of specialties including emergency medicine, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, family practice, obstetrics, and dentistry. Mr. McConnell is licensed to practice in all Colorado County, District and Appellate courts, as well as in the United States Supreme Court, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the District Court for the District of Colorado. |
