Debra L. Dennett is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Silicon Valley office. Debra is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department. Her practice focuses on intellectual property litigation in federal and state courts and before the International Trade Commission. She has broad experience in litigating commercial disputes and providing advice to companies in the biopharmaceutical and technology segments.
Debra has significant experience in patent counseling and complex litigation in a variety of technologies, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, gene therapy, semiconductors, wireless communications, optical storage drives and software. She has additional experience in the preparation of opinions on infringement and validity of patents, as well as in patent prosecution. She also has experience defending clients against claims of product liability for products including pharmaceuticals, vaccines and medical devices.
Debra received her A.B. in chemistry, magna cum laude, from Columbia University where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and her D.V.M. from Cornell University. She practiced veterinary medicine in Texas and New York for several years prior to attending law school at the University of Texas. She has authored scientific articles and engaged in research in the fields of teratology, embryology, neurophysiology and organic chemistry.
Debra is admitted to practice in Texas, before the District Court for the Western District of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and is registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
