Dee Brown was named Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for TECO Energy in 2001, leading and managing TECO Energy�s regulatory activities for Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Florida Public Service Commission. In 2006, she accepted the additional responsibility of leading the Customer Service organization for Tampa Electric.
Prior to that, Brown was Director of Regulatory Affairs for Tampa Electric since 1998. She joined TECO Energy in 1990 as an internal auditor in the company�s Audit Services Department. From there, Brown worked as an administrator in the Health Benefits section, developing and implementing strategies to reduce health care costs and provide financial support to other areas of Human Resources. Between 1995 and 1998, Brown served as Director of TECO Energy�s Audit Services group, directing the company�s internal auditing function.
Before coming to TECO Energy, she worked in public accounting and with Pinellas County�s Clerk of the Circuit Court as an auditor.
Brown received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Florida State University, and received a Master�s in Business Administration in Management from the University of South Florida, earning summa cum laude honors. She has obtained numerous professional certifications, including Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner. She is also a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Florida Institute of CPAs.
Brown is actively involved with Junior Achievement of West Coast Florida. She serves on the regional board of directors, is involved with the development of Hillsborough County�s Enterprise Village, and has served as a classroom volunteer for several years. Brown is also a board member for TECO Energy�s federal and state political action committees, having served as president of TEPAC Florida from 2003-2004.
Brown is a Florida native and currently lives in Tampa.
