Deirdre Stanley is senior vice president and general counsel for The Thomson Corporation. Ms. Stanley joined Thomson in July 2002. She is responsible for heading the global legal function for Thomson and its subsidiaries overseeing all aspects of its legal affairs and leading the day-to-day operations of the global legal department.
Prior to joining Thomson Ms. Stanley served as executive vice president of business development and strategy for the Electronics Commerce Solutions Division of USA Interactive (previously USA Networks Inc.). She joined USA Networks as deputy general counsel in 1999. From 1995 through 1997 Ms. Stanley served as associate general counsel for GTE Corporation where she headed the mergers and acquisitions practice group.
Ms. Stanley started her career as a corporate associate with the law firm of Cravath Swaine & Moore working in both their New York and London offices. Ms. Stanley holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Public Policy from Duke University and a JD from Harvard Law School. |
