Mr. Burnett serves as the Vice President of Trade and Export Controls. In this capacity, Mr. Burnett has the responsibility for the full scope of legal matters related to export controls.
Before joining EADS NA in February 2004, Mr. Burnett handled federal regulatory matters relating to the aerospace, maritime and insurance industries, for over 20 years. His experience includes: Corporate Counsel at COMSAT and COMSAT General, Regulatory Counsel at the Federal Maritime Commission and private practice. Mr. Burnett has represented clients in a variety of regulatory and commercial matters, including federal licensing (FCC, DOC, DOS, and DOT); policy and legislation; satellite procurements; commercial contracts; government procurement; launch service contracts; software licensing; maritime and space insurance and corporate matters.
Since 1984, Mr. Burnett has also served as an outside legal consultant to EADS and its predecessor companies. In addition to providing commercial, corporate and general regulatory advice as a partner with Pierson & Burnett L.L.P, Mr. Burnett was also a principal consultant and advisor on U.S. export policy and licensing issues. These issues were related to the reorganization of EADS Space; the merger of EADS guided missile business units; SOSTAR; TerraSAR-X; LFK; Eurocopter; Eurofighter; A400M and AirTanker programs.
Mr. Burnett is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan, the University of Nebraska and Georgetown University Law Center, where he earned his Bachelor of Science, Juris Doctorate and his Masters of Laws respectively. He is the author of numerous articles related to U.S. export controls and international legal licensing issues. Mr. Burnett is a member of the International Institute of Air and Space Law, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Washington Space Business Roundtable, and the American Astronautical Society and the Society for International Affairs. |
