Dennis Koehl is the chief nuclear officer for Nuclear Management Company (NMC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Xcel Energy. He is and will be responsible for all nuclear activities in Minnesota at the Monticello and Prairie Island nuclear generating plants.
Koehl joined NMC in June 2004 as the site vice president of the Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Wisconsin. He oversaw the operation of the two nuclear units there. Under his leadership, the Point Beach plant improved regulatory performance and set site-generating records.
He has more than 29 years of experience in the nuclear industry, including positions of increasing responsibility at Tennessee Valley Authority�s Sequoyah and Watts Bar nuclear plants. He has a diverse background in operations, assessment, engineering and plant performance.
Koehl earned his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He also served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Patrick Henry nuclear-powered submarine.
